Graduate Fellowship Description
The University of Calgary requests applications from Masters Graduate students for the two available positions of:
Wildlife Disease Ecology with a Parasitology focus.
The fields of interest for the fellowship will be wildlife, the life cycles of the parasites, fieldwork and intensive laboratory work. Investigating the biodiversity and ecology of pathogens at the wildlife:livestock interface in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains of South-Western Alberta.
The one project will focus on describing the emergence and impact on muskoxen, the second project will investigate the life cycles of the parasites and evaluate the roles of host, parasite, environment, and evolutionary factors on parasite invasion and emergence.
The candidates may start the projects as MSc level projects, but it is expected that the second project will evolve into a PhD.
The objective of the projects is to focus on describing the emergence and impact on muskoxen and to investigate the life cycles of the parasites.
Requirements of applicants are to be Masters or PhD Graduate students.
