Post?Doctoral Fellowship in Secure Multi?party Computation
The Electronic Health Information Laboratory (EHIL) at the CHEO Research Institute is looking for a Post?Doctoral
Fellow (PDF) to work in Secure Multi?party Computation, particularly in regards to the sharing and processing of
information from health records. The successful candidate will report to the Canada Research Chair in Electronic
Health Information, Dr. Khaled El Emam, and work with the lab's research team, which includes computer
scientists, software engineers, mathematicians and statisticians.
The PDF will be responsible for research and development of secure multi?party computation and privacy?
preserving protocols for health information. The PDF will also contribute to journal papers in which
the results of this research will be published. The successful candidate will need to develop the protocols for
specific analytical needs, prove their correctness, do theoretical evaluations of complexity and performance,
and conduct empirical evaluations of performance.
The position is for one year and is renewable for a second year. The position starts on 1st July 2013.
? Research and development of secure multi?party computation and privacy?preserving protocols for
? Develop and implement prototypes and simulations as proof of concept for the proposed protocols and
? Disseminate research results through the writing of journal papers and presentations given at meetings
? Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
? A strong research track record with journal or conference publications in secure computation and/or
privacy preserving statistics and data?mining
? Strong knowledge of different cryptographic techniques and Secure Multi?party Computation methods
? Knowledge of both randomization as well as multi?party computation based approaches
? Knowledge of data mining, statistical analysis methods, and their applications in health records
? Experience in software development
? Good analytical and communication skills
? Self?motivated, independent, and good team player
