The successful candidate will join the research project under Drs. Hung and Carvalho at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital and University Health Network. The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute is one of Canadas leading biomedical research institutes offering a stimulating research environment, competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits.. The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigators on research projects related to genome-wide DNA methylation and pancreatic cancer. The position will initially be for 18 months with the possibility of renewal.
Education and Experiences:
Bachelor or community college degree in life sciences, biotechnology or biochemistry is required. Skills and experiences in laboratory analysis and next generation sequence are preferable.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences.
Skills and Qualifications :
Solid knowledge of molecular biology
Skills and experience in preparing libraries for next generation sequence
Excellent organizational and communication skills to work in a collaborative environment.
Ability to work with an interdisciplinary research team, including epidemiologists, molecular geneticists, and laboratory staffs and scientists
Previous experience with molecular laboratory analysis is desirable
Duties and Responsibilities: The position will involve research projects related to pancreatic cancer and genome-wide DNA methylation, including
Assisting the extraction of cell free DNA
Preparing the library for the sequencing
Quality Control for sequencing
Coordinating the sample flows across all collaborating laboratories
Contribution to preparation of project reports, publications, and scientific presentations
Increased understanding of cell migrations during normal development and during cancer metastasis
